Alaska Fly Out Fishing
Join us at
Dove Island
Lodge
Imagine
the thrill of hooking a trophy steelhead while fly fishing in Alaska
upon a remote wilderness stream. At Dove Island Lodge we use
lightweight fly rods and spinning gear to target rainbow trout,
Dolly Varden, cutthroat trout, steelhead, silver and sockeye salmon.
Southeast Alaska is famous for its myriad lakes and streams,
accessible only via float plane. We are proud to be permitted by the
U.S. Forest Service to offer guided and unguided excursions into the
Tongass National Forest.
We are the only lodge in Sitka operating its own floatplane for fly
out excursions. Our local fishing guides have cultivated their
passion for fly fishing in Alaska into a profession, and combine
their knowledge with a lifetime of experience.
Our freshwater fishing program centers on our DeHaviland Beaver
floatplane. This aircraft was built in Canada and designed to do one
thing; fly heavy loads off of short airstrips or short-water
takeoffs. It is often referred to by Alaskan and Canadian bush
pilots as “the best plane ever built.” It is also the most sought
after bush plane in the world, and is considered one the most
well-suited planes for fly out fishing in Alaska.
This aircraft gives us the flexibility to carry up to seven people
to remote lakes, streams, and bays sometimes not accessible by boat.
Fly fishing in Alaska defines the purity of the sport, and
oftentimes your only company on the trip will be bears, bald eagles,
and other wildlife.
Our guests have the opportunity to either fly fish or use
conventional tackle. Our float plane is designed for lodge clients
only, which means multiple moves during a single day of fishing.

Our Dove Island Lodge
is the only lodge in Sitka that operates its own float plane
for flyout excursions. Our fishing guides are local Alaskans
with many years of fishing experience.
